OCCUPY TAKSIM PARK

This is not a political post! It is a short summary about the situation in Turkey. I have to share this information because Turkish media is under control. For the past four days a group of young demostrators have been occupying "Gezi Park" on İstanbul's Taksim Square in an effort to halt the demolition of a public space to make room for a shopping mall. So far, their occupation has succeeded in thwarting efforts to cut down Gezi's tree. But on friday the police cracked down especially violently, blocking the exit of the park and subjecting trapped demonstrators to tear gas/pepper bomb crossfire. With this attack the park became a symbol for everything that the government is tearing down; the trees they cut down, the history they destroyed, the rivers they polluted, the seas they filled with cement, all in the name of economical growth, and of course the laws they have enacted to attack our private lives. Now not only Istanbul whole Turkey is protesting against increasing pressure from Turkish Prime Minister. Protesters are peaceful but the police has been attacking with gas bombs over 24 hours! There are hundreds of injured people and our media doesn't show anything. We need international support against police terror and chemical war, please help.

*Hiçbir zaman politik düşünceleri savunan bir insan olmadım. Bana göre herkesin huzur ve barış içinde, eşit şartlarda, düşüncelerini özgürce açıklayarak yaşama hakkı var. Ama benim özgürlüğüme müdahale edilirse, etrafımdaki insanlar hunharca dövülüp, gazlanıp, işkence görmeye başlarsa, fikirler göz ardı edilip birşeyler zorla dayatılmaya çalışılırsa bende haklarımın sonuna kadar savunucusu olurum. Dil, din, ırk, cinsiyet bu konuda artık önemini yitirdi, hepimiz el ele verdik ve dayatmalara karşı çıkıyoruz. Kavgayla, dövüşle, yıkarak kırarak değil omuz omuza yürüyerek, birbirimize kenetlenerek bunu yapıyoruz!!!

  2. omg.. that so bad. i have heard about it one time.. but i didnt think if it so that bad. so many people on the bridge. i just worries if the bridge can hold people as much as that, cause bridge has elasticity and maximum capacity. but with so many demonstrator like that, i think it must be the wrong one is the ministry. well, actually i cant help :( im really sorry. cause even in here, in indonesia, in my city too we still survive to protect our jungle from what government say with economic growth. if media is under control, i think if all demonstrator make an issue using internet it can be hear by world. like make a post like you did now. went to forum, and make it on twitter. i wish no more people get hurt cause of someone will. :)
