LA TOUR EIFFEL

The Eiffel Tower, named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, is the tallest building in Paris. It is a puddle iron tower which was built in 1889 as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair. Now it has become a cultural icon of France. First the tower elicited some strong reactions and nature lovers thought that it would interfere with the flight of birds over Paris. It was almost torn down in 1909 at the expiration of its 20-year lease, but was saved because of its antenna — used for telegraphy at that time. The tower is now the most-visited monument in the world.

*Ufak bir aradan sonra tekrar Paris'deyiz :) Her ne kadar halk bu kuleden hoşlaşmasa da- Fransa'nın en önemli simgelerinden biri olan Eyfel 1889 yılında inşaa edilmiştir. Aslında Fransızlara hak vermemek elde değil; Paris'de birbirinden etkileyici binalar, heykeller, anıtlar...dururken niye Eyfel simge haline gelmiş ben de anlayabilmiş değilim ama ben kendisine antipati duymam her gittiğimde de ziyaretimi esirgemem. Keşke her seferinde yüzlerce kişi sırada beklemese de tekrar manzaranın tadını çıkarabilsem...:S
