Today is Republic Day in Turkey, our most important holiday. Republic Day marks the creation of the Turkish Republic in 1923. After Turkey's victory in the War of Independence became Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the leader of the Turkish National Movement, the country's first president. Atatürk was not only a good officer, he made also political, economic and cultural reforms. Under his leadership thousands of new schools were built, primary education was made free, women were given equal civil and political rights.... Therefore his surname is Atatürk, which means "Father of the Turks" :)
*Ne mal, mülk, şöhret, ne de ego... mesele bir vatan meselesiydi. Özgürlüklerin yaşanacağı, daha ileriye daha iyiye gidebilmek için kurulacak bir vatan. Şu anda elimizde kalanları tartışmayacağım bile ama 29 Ekim Cumhuriyet bayramımız kutlu olsun ve ne mutlu Atatürk'ü anlayabilene....
